Mats co-driven by Martijn Wydaeghe in 3rd round M cup
After two very successful rounds of the M-Cup in Belgium dutch rallydriver Mats van den Brand will switch to another co-driver, Martijn Wydaeghe, for the upcoming Sezoensrally. The exciting event, in the North of Belgium, is known from treacherous typical gravel surface, is the third round of the Belgian M-Cup. After two events Mats van den Brand is leading the M-Cup championship. His normal co-driver, Eddy Smeets, will be the co-driver for the young Irish driver Stephen Wright during the Sezoensrally, which is the home-event for Eddy Smeets.
Mats VD Brand: The Sezoensrally is a well-known rally for me. I have driven this event a couple of times before and really love the event. It’s a fast rally which contains a lot of very specific gravel and I really love it. Off course I would liked to have driven this rally with Eddy Smeets but he will drive and fight for a overall top three classification in the Sezoensrally with Stephen Wright, just like he did the last couple of years. I started a search for an experienced co-driver but that didn’t took long. Martijn and I know each other from 2015 when we competed together in de Drive DMACK Fiesta Trophy in the World Rally Championship. We experienced some highs and lows but overall it was an incredible season we experienced together. I am sure we can entertain the crowds at the Sezoensrally.
Martijn Wydaeghe: After Mats asked me to compete with him at the Sezoensrally, and it became clear to me I could fit this event in my busy schedule, it didn’t took me long to say yes. We experienced some incredible events together and I look back to that season with a great feeling. The Sezoensrally is a hard rally, for both driver and co-driver. I suspect Mats and I will be used to each other very fast and we will be able to fly over the stages again. I can not wait to drive again!Tags: BMW E30, BMW M3, Martijn Wydaeghe, Mats vd Brand, Sezoensrally
